Emerald Ash Borer (EAB)

The Emerald Ash Borer was found in the state of Iowa in many locations. As of now, there are no confirmed cases of the EAB in Mason City.

Homeowners with ash trees on their private property are encouraged to begin research on your options. The homeowner should consider researching the methods of treating ash trees every year or getting estimates for the removal of ash trees from licensed tree services. If you choose to do nothing with your ash tree and the EAB infests the tree, the tree will die as the EAB attacks it.

If you suspect you may have a tree infested with EAB, please contact the City’s Street Division at (641) 421-3675 or (641) 420-1999.
