When choosing a tree care professional, it is important to
hire a trained professional arborist. Some items to consider when hiring a
private tree service:
*Ensure the company is currently licensed in the City of
Mason City. In order to legally trim or remove trees in Mason City, the company
must be licensed by the City. Contact the City Clerk’s office for a list of
tree care providers that are licensed by the City.
*Make sure the company has proof of insurance.
*Membership in professional arborist organizations is a plus
as well as if the company employs International Society of Arboriculture (ISA)
Certified Arborists, who are experienced professionals that have passed exams covering
all aspects of tree care.
*Request references to see where the company has performed
similar work. Check the references and visit other worksites where tree work
has been performed.
*Get more than one estimate and don’t always accept the low
bid. Review credentials of the companies that submitted bids and determine who
would be best suited for the job.
The City has also set up a list of professional tree
services that are able and willing to treat Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). The list
of providers is listed below.
