Where is Central Park?

The park is located in the center of downtown Mason City, containing 2.6 acres of magnificent parkland. The park allows visitors to enjoy the peace and relaxation that nature has to offer. The original owners, John Long and George Brentner purchased the land from the federal government in 1855 and gifted the land to the City in 1874 making the park one of the first parks in Mason City. Central Park was formerly referenced as ‘Public Square’ in the downtown.
Several park benches line the sidewalks and the Garden Club adorns the park with amazing floral displays each year. On the south end of the park is The Historic Park Inn Hotel which is the only remaining hotel designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. On the east end of the park is the magnificent Civil War Statue, erected in 1884 and refurbished in the late 1990s, that towers through the numerous tall trees. The west side of the park features a Veteran's Monument, installed in 2005 and is designed to honor veterans living or deceased. Also on the west side is the Statue of Liberty which was refurbished in 2002. The City’s transit comfort station and main hub is located on the northeast corner of the park. Major renovations to the park were completed in 2006.
