This park, located in the southwest side of Mason City, was gifted in 1958 from the MacNider family and additional ground was acquired in 1962. The total acreage of the park is 21.6 acres.

Frederick Hanford Park is located on the southwest side of Mason City, containing 21.6 acres of parkland. It was donated by the MacNider family and established in 1959. The park’s main entrance is at 23^rd Street SW and South Monroe Avenue. The park features three adult softball complexes, a concession area, and a shelter house with water, electricity and restroom facilities. There is playground equipment located next to the shelter house.

The park is used for adult league softball, picnicking and a place to relax and enjoy nature. 

In 2011, 50 hardwood and ornamental trees were added along the ball diamond west side for shade and windbreak. Additional trees were added to the shelter area.
