FIBER OPTIC CONSTRUCTION

MetroNet, a new internet service provider, will soon begin the construction of 100% fiber network in Mason City. The construction teams may need to have access to the utility easements located on residential properties. The construction phase is temporary and they will do their best to minimize any impact to property. 

In order to prepare residents for what to expect during the construction phases, the construction process is outlined in detail through videos and photos. If residents have any concerns or questions, they should be addressed directly to MetroNet representatives via telephone or through their website. Notifications:
MetroNet will communicate throughout the construction process and planned notifications to residents as follows:

*Four to six weeks prior: Letter (PDF)
*Two to three weeks prior: Postcard (PDF)
*A week to 10 days prior: Yard Markers (PDF)


Construction:
Before the start of construction, utility markings will appear in easements and the right-of-way with temporary paint and flags.

In the following days, MetroNet's contractors will begin constructing their fiber-optic network. This includes directional boring and the installation of overhead wires on existing poles, Work will primarily be routed in the same areas as existing electrical and communication wires.

Restoration will be completed after the work is complete within the specific area as weather permits.
