How-To Guide for Neighborhood Block Parties

The purpose of this How-To Guide for Neighborhood Block Parties is to share the power and fun of block parties, enabling anyone to organize their own block party. Block parties have been recognized as a very positive and powerful way for people to connect with their neighbors to build stronger, safer, and more cohesive communities.

Traditionally, Mason City's Block Party Weekend is held on the 3rd weekend in August but if that time frame doesn't work for your neighborhood any time is a good time for a block party.

This kit is organized so that all necessary information, forms and "dos and don'ts" are included. So don't hesitate! Gather a couple of neighbors, pick a date, follow the instructions in the guide and invite everyone to join in!
