Hazardous Materials

The Mason City Fire Department is the home station of the 10 county North Iowa North Central Regional Emergency Response Commission Team (NCRERC) formed in 1993. The Team is administered by the North Central Regional Emergency Response Commission, with representatives from each of the ten counties.

The Hazardous Materials Team consists of 26 Hazardous Materials Technicians, 26 of which are Mason City Fire Fighters. When a hazmat incident occurs, a  team of technicians is assembled for response. All of the remaining fire fighters at the Mason City Fire Department are trained to the operations level at a minimum, although many are technicians.

 

The HazMat Team is under the leadership of  Mason City Fire Department's Deputy Chief of Operations  Aaron Beemer.
